Drosophila yakuba (fly)

Introduction

Drosophila yakuba is an African species of fruit fly belong to melanogaster species subgroup. It is predominantly found in open savanna and can be easily collected by fermenting banana traps on Africa mainland. It has the last common ancestor with Drosophila melanogaster, Drosophila simulans and Drosophila sechellia.
